Archbishop John Sentamu on inspiring joyful giving

The Most Revd and Rt Hon Dr John Sentamu, Archbishop of York, will open our conference by speaking on how we can encourage joyful giving and answer your questions on this theme.

New Theos research on Christian Funders

This year, The Mercers' Company asked the Christian think tank, Theos, to research into the Christian grant-making landscape. Nick Spencer and Ben Ryan will share the findings from the research and consider the implications for grant-seeking charities and churches in the UK today. All delegates will receive a free copy of the report.

Andy Hawthorne OBE on how to cast vision and fund growth

Andy leads The Message Trust which has grown from a one man band to one of the top 1% of UK charities, serving hundreds of thousands of young people. He speaks all over the world and is the author of eight books including Hope Unleashed and Here I Am Send Me.

Michael O'Neill on working with major donors

Mike is CEO of Stewardship, where he was previously Director of Philanthropy. A former Executive Director of Hope for New York, Mike has long experience of inspiring high net worth Christians to help churches and Christian charities to transform the world.

Peter Kerridge on digital strategies for reaching Christian donors

As Chief Executive of Premier, Peter has been responsible for transforming a struggling radio station into a thriving organisation which helps the church to communicate the gospel in a digital age. He will speak on how to use digital media to inspire Christian donors.

Anne Phipps is interim Director of Fundraising at Bible Society. An insightful fundraiser, strategist and manager, Anne has over 15 years of sector experience, including managing multi-million pound projects, leading transformational growth in appeals, supporter-journeys and change-management.

Daniel Singleton is Chief Executive of FaithAction, a network of faith-based and community organisations which deliver public services such as childcare, health and social care, housing and welfare to work. FaithAction is part of the Department of Health's Voluntary Sector Strategic Partner Programme and acts as the voice of faith-based groups.

Generating earned income for Christian Charities

Stephanie Biden, partner at Bates Wells Braithwaite and a trustee of Stewardship and OMF International (UK) will examine how Christian charities can identify and develop more opportunities to generate sustainable streams of earned income from their property, expertise and services.

Transformational growth - a case study

Chris Curtis is the inspirational Chief Executive of Youthscape, which was originally founded by 45 churches in Luton. He will share how they raised large sums to buy Bute Mills then expanded into a national organisation generating earned income by providing services to wide range of charities and churches.

Growing regular giving to your church and securing more legacies

Dr John Preston, who leads the National Stewardship and Resources Team at the Church of England, will examine how to grow your church’s income, drawing on a wide range of examples and research from churches across the UK. He will look at how to develop a vision which inspires people to give, build commitment to regular giving, use social media effectively and encourage more of your congregation to leave a gift to your church in their wills.

Running capital appeals to fund church restoration and building projects

David Saint is the founder of Action Planning, a Christian-led fundraising consultancy. David has helped a wide range of churches, within the Church of England and other denominations, to raise large sums to fund capital projects. Drawing on a range of case studies, David will examine how to research how much you could raise, develop a compelling ‘case for support’, encourage sacrificial giving amongst your congregation, secure grants from institutional funders and use the energy created by your capital appeal to lift ongoing regular giving.
